Live theatre, in English, in Strasbourg

Tagora is sorry to hear of the death of Alan Todd, which took place on 9 July 2025. He was 75.

After a successful career at the Council of Europe from 1982 to 2010 Alan moved to the La Rochelle area of France. During his time in Strasbourg, however, he was a great supporter of Tagora. Although he never took to the stage with us as an actor, his musical talent contributed greatly to several of our productions, including Cinderella (2003) and thEspionage (2004, pictured).

A Liverpudlian to the core, Alan was a dedicated Beatles fan and missed few opportunities to get out his guitar for a sing-along version of Penny Lane or Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. He marked Paul McCartney’s birthday in 2006 (When I’m 64, geddit?) by organising a concert, entitled “With and without the Beatles”, in the restaurant of the Council of Europe’s Human Rights Building.

One Tagora member, on hearing the news, said: “He was a really likeable bloke and great musician too.” We believe that’s how he would wish to be remembered.
