Live theatre, in English, in Strasbourg

Tagora is sad to report the death of Martin Wright, long-time member of the group. He had been ill for a number of years.

Martin was not only active in Tagora, but was also responsible for founding, running and directing the English-language theatre group in Strasbourg University, where he taught.

Since his début with us in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 1991, Martin was a frequent performer in Tagora productions, juggling with his busy professional life and other commitments to lend us his talents. Notable performances include his role in Caryl Churchill’s Three More Sleepless Nights, which won him the Best Actor award at FEATS; and that of the quirky barman in Picasso at the Lapin agile.

With his sonorous voice and expressive face – one FEATS adjudicator said he was reminiscent of Stan Laurel – Martin enlivened every production he was involved in. We remember him with fondness and gratitude for his contributions.
