The improv workshop, led by Nikki Lynn Michaelson, is back again starting September, and we’re eager to see you there, whether you’re a new face or a familiar participant.
Improv is theatre without a script, which could mean anything… What we do in the workshop varies, but we always start with warm-ups for team-building, focus, and mental agility. Then we play scenes in various ways: sometimes with silly gimmicks, like you may have seen on TV; sometimes with a more artistically bent, “higher-brow” long-form. It is adaptable – if there’s a particular need or interest in the group (for example, listening, character work, or initiating scenes) we can dig into that with games and exercises.
Nikki has been offering these workshops with Tagora for nearly two years, so no regular participant can claim status as an old hand. Point being, newcomers are welcome! You do not have to be “funny.” Here, it is more important to be supportive of others and ready to throw your own ideas into the mix. When everyone brings these qualities to the class it is a spirit-raising experience. Laughter is inevitable.

Signing up
Email nikki@tagora.eu no later than 4 September 2024, end of day. After that date the list will be closed. If you’d like to come only once to test it out, that’s perfectly fine as long as you put your name on the list in time. Regular attendance is appreciated, as it supports group chemistry. So come early, come often!
