On your marks, get set and go!
Spring is in the air, the clocks go forward next weekend … which means it’s time to start thinking about Tagora’s plans for next winter! Here’s a hint of what’s to come, together with an invitation to join in.
On Tuesday 18 April at 18:30 in the rehearsal room at the Council of Europe we will be giving details of our participation in the Théâtralis Festival (27–29 October, and also possibly 11 or 12 November) and in the Trois 14 2023/24 season at the Cube Noir (20 November–3 December).
Christelle Colson will be directing Orpheus in the Underworld which forms part of Théâtralis’ themed programme Fantaisies mythologiques. The play depicts a modern retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth with a cast of one speaking and six mimed roles.
As part of the Cube season, Julia Whitham is directing a one-act play by Brian Friel, Molly Sweeny, a series of three monologues given by three characters: Molly, her husband Frank, and her surgeon, Mr Rice. Blind from birth, but persuaded by Frank and Mr Rice to undergo sight-restoring surgery, Molly is confronted by a new and disturbing world.
Finally, Louise Palmer has truncated Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice into a one-act play set in Strasbourg in the 1880s. There are ten speaking roles and as many ”figurants” as wish to take part!
